We are excited to announce that starting in 2017 we will begin offering public programs and events such as:

  • Hikes in the preserve with Balsam Mountain Trust Naturalists
  • Learning the basics of wildlife photography while taking in the best views Balsam Mountain Preserve has to offer
  • Educational programs at the Jackson County Public Library

Walk for Wildlife Grant

The Balsam Mountain Trust is seeking grant proposals to support in situ conservation projects in the Southern Appalachian region. This grant provides financial support for projects that seek to have a direct, positive impact on wildlife conservation, including, but not limited to: field research, environmental restoration/habitat enhancement and citizen science.

One grant of $1,500 will be awarded. Deadline to apply is 21 November 2016. Please see application for details.
